We love Jada’s attitude to life… she is the definition of girl power so we couldn’t wait to find out more about her life…
The #GirlPower Series Featuring Jada Sezer
1. For those that don’t know you can you give a short summary of who you are and what you do…
My name is Jada Sezer, Im a model and mental health campaigner. On completing my MA in child psychotherapy, I was struck by the amount of young people with eating disorders and mental health difficulties, many of whom had been affected by the lack of diversity in the fashion industry. I began campaigning via social media putting my size 16 self in front of camera to demonstrate that every body can be beautiful. I was approached by a modeling agent and be working ever since.
2. How do you #TreatYourHealth
Health for me is a fluid, ever developing thing. Some days you want a lot of chocolate other days you’ve got healthy homemade meal preps organized for the week. I don’t put pressure on myself to get it right all the time because life just doesn’t work like that.
3. How do you fuel yourself on a busy day?
I don’t drink caffine so make sure I’m stocked up with a big bottle of water. Generally busy days mean no time to eat so I prepare a tupperware of nutritious food I can eat throughout the day.
4. Talk us through your typical work day…
I generally wake up at 8am, shower, get dressed and head to the studio for 9am. Whilst Im in hair and makeup I’ll have my breakfast (a smoothie I made the night before in my Nutribullet). We start shooting around 10:30 to 5/6. If I’m not too tired I’ll head on down to Fierce Grace for a chil out yoga session. Once I’m home, I go on the Mindful Chef website for some easy, quick dinner inspo recipes. If I’m feeling super stressed I’ll probably run a hot bubble bath, put on my new L’oreal clay facial mask & Keraste leave in hair conditioner for ultimate me time.
5. Who’s your biggest inspiration and why?
Angelina Jolie; not only is she an Oscar winning actress but her inspirational work for the UN is what I one day I’d also love to do.
6. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I hope to transition the modeling into acting and play strong female protagonist roles, whilst still campaigning for the importance in mental health awareness.
7. How do you relax and switch off?
I tend to struggle to switch off at home to it often happens in a yoga class.
8. Who do you love to follow on social media?
Emily Ratajkowski (@emrata) for style inspo and Emma Watson for activist/ ultimate babe appeal.
9. What does #GirlPower mean to you?
Females united to create change.
10. One piece of advice that you would give to your younger self?
Have more of the ‘fuck it’ factor and not care so much about other people perceptions of me.
