The #GirlPower Series… Featuring BECKI RABIN

1. For those that don’t know you can you give a short summary of who you are and what you do…

So my name is Becki, I am a fully qualified personal trainer, training freelance at Lomax in Chelsea. I actually also work full time as an advertising Manager at Hearst Magazines working across the UKs best loved brands – ELLE, Women’s Health, Cosmo, Bazaar etc.

For me, Alternatively Healthy started to educate people on how to lead a healthy lifestyle free from guilt pressure and restrictions. Alternatively Healthy as a blog stands aims to offer natural health and healing information with a focus on digestive health. I struggle with severe IBS and food intolerances – it is something I know can be impossible to cope with at times and stressful to keep on top of. There are so many superfoods out there and so much information on what to do it can be so confusing, so I wanted to be able to share what I have learnt has helped me in an easily digestible way! (sorry about the pun there)

2. How do you #TreatYourHealth

I love this question because for me, I think there is a vital word in there to that question… *your*. Everybody has their own understanding of what healthy looks like and means to them. That is how it should be and we should all be mindful of that. Everybody has their own journey, their own goals, own restrictions and own ideals of what healthy looks like. For me healthiness is happiness, it is about nourishing my body with foods I love, training because I love the way it makes me feel and finding balance in everything I do.

3. How do you fuel yourself on a busy day

With lots and lots of food haha! Most of my days are pretty manic so I have to meal prep as much as I can. I have found the best thing that works for me is eating little and often. So I have like 5/6 meals a day! haha

4. Talk us through your typical work day

Usually I get up at 6.30 (usually more like 7) and head to the gym to train myself if I don’t have clients. I then head to soho to work at Hearst and then after work I usually either train clients, catch up with blog work, head to events and wherever I can – see friends and do something normal! Haha

5. Who’s your biggest inspiration and why

There are so many girls that inspire me every day. I think that as dangerous as Instagram can be, it can also be a wonderful thing. When else could you share tips and learn from others as well as empower others before Instagram existed? I have met so many incredible people on this journey and am in ore of every single one of them in their own way. My housemate tessa (@londonpaleogirl) is also a huge inspiration to me. Not only beautiful on the outside –this girl is the hardest worker I know. She never doubts and gos and gets everything she wants. Shes a little superstar!

6. Where do you see yourself in 5 years

I want Alternatively Healthy to become so much more than a blog. Being from a commercial background, I have huge visions as to where I want to take the brand. As long as I am doing what I love, around the people I love I will be happy!

7. How do you relax and switch off

I often go back to my mums and just switch off. Turn my phone of and chill out. I actually also meditate quite a bit and go to spiritual church – little hippy I know. I think it is so important to switch off sometimes from everything ( especially our phones) and just give your brain time to catch up.

8. Who do you love ‘stalking’ on social media?

Hahah that would be telling. But I am a TOP stalker 😉

9. What does #GirlPower mean to you?

Spice girls. 🙂 No I think it is such a powerful word and so important. I think more than ever girls are supporting one another and it is so great. We should all stick together, empower eachother, inspire eachother, pick eachother up when we are down and be free from envy or jealousy. When women stick together the power they have is limitless.

10. One piece of advice that you would give to your younger self?

Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your sole on fire. I love this quote. For years I didn’t do what I wanted to do because I was worried about what people would say. I have learnt that actually, what we fear we attract and what we believe – we bring in to being.
