Life can get stressful sometimes, especially when you’re running a business! We always make a conscious effort to have down time now and again so we can get back to feeling refreshed and rejuvenated; It’s incredibly important for your mental and physical wellbeing as well as your productivity.
We decided to have a night away at a spa hotel called Ragdale Hall, just the two of us, away from the manic rush of London, somewhere we could completely switch off while enjoying a bit of pampering and relaxation.
Ragdale hall is nestled away the heart of Leicestershire countryside; There are five pools, 11 heat facilities, a fully equipped gym, studios for fitness classes and treatment rooms. So we weren’t short on things to do while we were there!
We arrived to the warmest welcome on what felt like the first day of sun in 2018. Being food lovers we obviously had to go straight for lunch, which was a buffet style set up. The lunch options were great, suitable for the health conscious and those that prefer a little indulgence.
After lunch we headed to the treatment area for a little pampering. We both had the 50-minute blissful face and back therapy, such a lovely treatment and a perfect way to help us wind down. After the treatment we felt like we were ready to take on the spa….
It’s a very chilled vibe at Ragdale Hall, everyone walks around in their dressing gowns and slippers (which are provided in your room) so we got changed into our swim stuff and gowns and headed to the pool and thermal spa area. There was so much to choose from: the waterfall pool, the candle pool, the thought zone, the colour flow cave, the volcanic salt bath, the scented room, the rose sauna and the brand new rooftop infinity pool! We gave everything a go including the aqua gym pool that has actual gym equipment in the water, a first for us but something we would definitely try again!
After a good hour of water fun we decided to give the fitness centre a go and booked ourselves in for the Sunset Stretch class. We are used to doing quite ‘hardcore’ classes so it was a bit different to our usual workouts but we really enjoyed it and it was a peaceful experience that would be suitable for any age and any fitness level. It was such a sunny day so we decided to sit in the garden after the class and have an Aperol Spritz before heading to dinner. Nothing beats a cold drink in the sun :).
Dinner was delicious and so was the wine! The staff at Ragdale really go all out to make you feel comfortable and looked after, we were seriously impressed with how friendly and welcoming they were. After a full day of doing nothing but eating and relaxing we were exhausted (isn’t it funny how doing nothing can have that effect!) so we decided to go back to our room and watch a cheesy Rom-Com that we picked from the long list of DVDs that the hotel offer.
We woke up feeling revived and very hungry… you pre order your breakfast at Ragdale and they suggest that you have it in your room but as it was such a lovely day we wanted to enjoy it in the sunshine. There was a vegan/dairy-free option, which was so delicious and plenty of high protein options. We felt like we were on holiday as it was so hot and the setting was beautiful. We had to get back to London to work so we left after breakfast.
Thank you Ragdale for a lovely experience!
