HOMEMADE ALMOND BUTTER

Written by Sophie

This is another recipe that I’ve always wondered about but felt like it would be too complicated to do myself.  But recently I’ve been taking part in a lifestyle & diet program called The Body Confidence Program which is quite similar to Paleo with some lifestyle rules in there (read more about it via the link), so I’ve been eating a lot of almond butter and wanted to experiment with making my own.  Turns out it’s really easy!

Ingredients

  • 250g almonds
  • 1/2 tsp pink himalayan salt

Directions

Roast the almonds for 10-15 minutes

Whilst they are still warm put them into a food processor (nutribullet and hand-held blender don’t cut it I’m afraid) along with the pink himalayan salt and start blending…

Keep it on constantly for around 15 minutes (occasionally checking removing almonds from the side of the food processor) and basically just keep going until it’s smooth enough for your taste.  I felt like it wasn’t going to happen at one point but then I put it on for another few minutes and the change happened!!

This is what it looks like after quite a while, but you’ve got to keep going!

Until it looks like this:

Then decant into a pretty little jar!
